The CEO of MDC, Jeff Kline has been in the credit union industry for more than 25 years. He is the past president and chief operating officer of CommunityAmerica CUSO One, a CUSO holding company that owns or has owned all or part of six other CUSOs including a mortgage origination and servicing company, a finance company, a consulting firm, a brokerage operation, a payday lending operation, and a large product development and incubation CUSO. Jeff started his career as a CPA at KPMG Peat Marwick. He then went to work for US Central Credit Union, eventually becoming the VP/comptroller. He has worked at other credit unions as an EVP of finance and technology, an EVP of retail and strategic services, and a CEO. Jeff was part of the first class of the CUES CEO Institute, and the inaugural class of the Filene Research Institute's I3 program. Jeff has also been on the board of Member Gateways and CU Realty, LLC. |

As director of finance for MDC, Karrie Julian is responsible for planning, executing, and directing the financial operations of the organization. She works closely with the director of product development to research, analyze, design, and implement new products to meet market needs, meet organizational goals, and align with MDC's mission and vision.
Karrie has been in the financial services industry for 17 years in a variety of leadership roles. She started her career as an auditor at TDS Corporate and progressed to a senior treasury analyst. She then went to work for the State of Wisconsin Investment Board (the 9th largest pension fund in the U.S.) as a compliance officer, eventually becoming assistant director of investment & financial services. In that capacity, Karrie worked directly on board initiatives surrounding benchmarking with peer funds, portfolio level performance, division budgets, and other financial services process and streamlining efforts. Most recently, Karrie worked within Northwestern Mutual's Corporate Investment Project team on separately managed account and annuity investment platforms, developing programs to complement their core life insurance products. A certified internal auditor, Karrie received her MBA from Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin. She sits on the board of the South Madison Redevelopment Fund and has served on a variety of committees within the volunteer group of the Junior League. Karrie has also held volunteer positions within the Overture Center for the Arts and Olbrich Botanical Gardens and has taught technology classes to the elderly at Madison Area Technical College. Karrie earned her bachelor's degree in accounting and business administration from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. |

As director of product development, Sarah Lietz owns the product development and project management processes and metrics. She communicates with owners and the Board to solicit new product ideas, and gain buy-in and approval of the project selection process and outcomes. Additionally, she researches, analyzes, designs, and implements the new products that meet market needs (credit union owners and their members) and organizational goals, and amplify the company’s mission and vision. Sarah joined MDC in 2005 after serving for two years as a corporate project manager for CUNA Mutual Group. Prior to working with MDC, she spent eight years in product development in the telecom industry, focused primarily on introducing new Internet-related products to the marketplace. She has also held positions with the Chicago office of KPMG Peat Marwick, a global consulting and accounting firm. Sarah is a member of the PDMA (Product Development and Management Association) and the AMA (American Marketing Association). She serves as Treasurer on the volunteer board of directors of her local credit union, US Federal, in Minneapolis. She earned a bachelor's degree from Illinois State University and her MBA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. |
